Hi! My name is Erin and I am an artist based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I have a husband, two kids, one cat and a full-time job at a local hospital.
Creating art is something I started doing very young. It’s definitely a form of meditation for me. I can get lost in a project and hours can fly by in an instant. I am a strong believer in following inspiration wherever it leads, so I love experimenting with many different types of media, including yarn, resin and ink; but I always seem to come back to painting.
I took a long hiatus from creating art in my 20s and 30s; and when my twins were born in 2013, raising them and finishing my college degree took up a majority of my time, and art was nowhere near my list of priorities. I felt in my heart that I’d eventually get back to it, but wasn’t sure when I’d have the time or money.
When my sister unexpectedly passed away in 2017, it made me realize that I really needed to make it a priority to get back to that creative part of me. I decided to start painting again, and I began with abstract art like paint pouring and working with resin. I created an Instagram page and decided to call it “Out of the Blue” because it was such a sudden decision that I truly dove into. I started creating my own website and really began to pick up steam.
Then the pandemic hit.
I spent much of 2020 and 2021 (in between remote schooling my kids and working in healthcare) studying painting techniques and learning/growing as an artist. I have always loved to learn, and I absorbed hours of videos and tutorials on how to do photorealistic painting. I fell asleep watching real-time painting videos at night. I took notes, practiced whenever I could, failed often, and always kept trying.
Now I have my own shop where I can share what I’ve created and it is so meaningful to me. I’m so excited to finally be getting back to that part of me that has been missing and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share it with you.
I’m always happy to answer any questions you may have so please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you so much for stopping by.
